Yeah, the title says it all. Seattle is A LOT like San Francisco but with a different touch. I like it.
So I woke up early this morning to go to the University of Washington (and NOT Washington University. This one is across the country in DC… I learned that the hard way. FAIL!). The campus was really pretty, surrounded by trees, with very nice buildings and a quiet atmosphere. U of W was NOT my destination of choice but *someone* wanted a tshirt… I had SO MUCH FUN looking for something NOT purple… Yep. U of W’s colour is a bright purple. Yay!
Random fact #1: Seattle has an underground tunnel for buses and trains downtown. How was I supposed to know? Eh… made me lose 30 minutes waiting for the bus on the street level. Silly me!
Random fact #2: Seattle is all in hills just like San Fran. It’s like a workout without the gym apparatus!
On my way back downtown, I went shopping for a bit and made my way to the Space Needle and the surroundings. Impressive, a very nice lot with many activities for the children and the Experience Music Project. Futuristic buildings all over the place.
I took the monorail back downtown as I was starving and I stopped by Chipotle, a mexican grill. GOOOOD burrito!
After that, I decided to take a walk on 5th avenue, passing in front of the really impressive library, making my way down to Pionneer Square, a quiet neighboorhood with cobblestone streets and trees all around.
Franky will be happy to know I made it to the two stadiums… and back to the waterside. The skies were so clear at that point that I could see the snowy mountains across the bay. Dreamy…
I shopped a bit and had a beer by the water before going back to Pike Place Market to enjoy all those smells and fresh products. As I wandered around the streets I started feeling hungry so I went to another yet more casual wine bar called Fonté. I had a very nice selection of meats and cheese along with an exquisite selection of wines from the Washington area. Mium.
I am back at the hotel now… doing some work and getting ready for Casual Connect tomorrow. I have a few meetings and two parties at night. It should be interesting!!!
